Positively Prizes! (January to December 2015)
Following the launch of the Positively Stockton-on-Tees campaign in 2014 we were inundated with offers of help and support from across the Borough. So many of our local businesses were keen to get behind the campaign that we were able to recognise the best Positively Stockton-on-Tees submissions with a monthly prize giveaway. It was great to see so many businesses supporting this celebration of all that is good about our Borough.
Take a look at the winning entries from the campaign below.
December 2015 was the final month of the campaign so we decided to showcase all of our winning monthly entries and asked our lovely supporters to vote for their favourite entry. We were chuffed to bits to announce the winner with the most votes – Lucy Adamson, who originally won the October prize giveaway, who got 485 votes for her photograph showing her cute dog Cassie posing at Preston Hall Museum and Grounds. Lucky Lucy won a gorgeous hamper (worth £150) which was kindly donated by Lewis & Cooper – the rather splendid purveyors of delicious gourmet goodies, with stores in Northallerton and Yarm.
A big well done to Lucy and each of the other winning entries from the Positively Prizes campaign.
A big well done to Lucy Adamson, the winner of October’s Positively Prizes giveaway – a £50 voucher to spend at Wags and Whiskers Pet Boutique. We love this snap of Cassie, Lucy’s adorable dog, at Preston Park Museum & Grounds.
Well done to Katy Collingwood who won the September prize, a £50 voucher for Borge (Stockton). Katy sent us this fab picture from the River Rat Race, enjoy your tasty Italian meal.
“The river rat race was fantastic fun and the beautiful route along our river side has now become my favourite run.”
Our prize for August is awarded to Dan Conway. Dan has bagged himself and three guests a very tasty Sunday lunch at Wynyard Golf Club. We love this gorgeous image of one of the light installations taken at the SIRF finale earlier this month.
“Great bit of fun last night at #SIRF2015. Absolutely spectacular at Trinity Fire Garden”
Our prize giveaway for July, a family rowing experience and hamper, courtesy of our friends at Rivershack, has been awarded to Amey-Rose McGrogan. Amey-Rose sent in this lovely photo montage of her children who had taken part in Stockton Cycling Festival. Amey-Rose said: “Day 3 of Stockton Cycling Festival. The happy McGrogan clan have loved it!”
The June prize was won by Jackie Howe for her great photograph montage of Stockton High Street views. The prize, kindly donated by ARC Stockton is four tickets for their Catch 22 Comedy Club along with a meal/drinks at the newly launched No.60 cafe/bar at ARC.
Our amazing prize for May was kindly donated by Barker and Stonehouse which was £1,000 to spend in their gorgeous new Teesside Retail Park store. The winner was Emily Lee for the photo of her daughter (shown below) and heartwarming words alongside the picture. Here’s what she had to say:
“I wish I had an adequate picture to sum up my love for this place I call home, or words that could do this place justice. I love this wondrous town which opened its arms to this southern girl and made her family. From the beauty of the infinity bridge to the creativity of SIRF, from the generous hearts that serve the community to the openness to smile and laugh with a stranger I am proud to call myself an honorary Stockton-er. As I walk along the tees in Preston park, listen to a band in Ropner, enjoy an icecream by the fountain, or a coffee in Yarm I count myself very fortunate to call this glorious place home.
This photo of my daughter sums up my love for this place. Pure joy, as she has fun in a fab community space wearing the mask she has just made at another awesome free event. Yep. Safe to say I love Stockton-on-Tees.”
Our prize for April, donated by Lovell Homes and Muse Developments (developers at Northshore, Stockton), is a voucher worth £140 for a two-hour water sports experience at the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre. Our winner for this brilliant prize is Faith Brisset, aged 9. We’re loving Faith’s wonderful drawing of Yarm High Street.
Our prize for March was a family ice skating session at Billingham Forum Ice Arena, donated from the lovely people at Tees Active. Our winner was Abel Riberio. His winning entry tells of Abel’s experience of moving to Stockton-on-Tees. It’s rather moving – here is what Abel had to say…
“How about an opinion of someone who came from another country? Well, I am Portuguese and, following the economic and social crisis that hit Portugal, I moved to the UK in search of better conditions to create my son, Pedro 11 years. When I left my house I had some contacts and a lot of will, and God brought me to Stockton-on-Tees. Can you imagine what it is to change a life, including a 14 year marriage to another country? Not easy… believe me…”
“In Stockton we found everything, good people, charitable people, concerned and available, I found a Council with the doors open and it really was there, and has always been, I really like to live here so I’ll say that I am indeed happy since 2013 and will continue here… I’m not a Stocktonian from birth but it’s certainly in my heart…”
“Thank you for everything and I hope that I can be useful for all you Stocktonians in the future… God bless you all…”
Our February prize is a meal for four people which was very kindly donated by Mohujos by the River (Stockton). Our winner was Stephen Hornsey for his stunning photo of a winter scene at Norton Duck Pond.
The first prize provided by Wynyard Hall, who kindly pledged an afternoon tea for four people. Our winner was Winnie Cleasby for her gorgeous photo of Bassleton Wood, Thornaby looking across the River Tees. Below are a couple of pictures of Winnie enjoying her prize with friends.
